What is AI शिक्षकः?
A Sanskrit grammar tutor that never hands you the answer. It gives you the smallest useful hint, then a larger one if you are still stuck, until you reach the answer yourself — and every fact it uses is verified against a Pāṇinian derivation engine.
Why won’t it just give me the answer?
An answer received is not an answer understood. The tutor is built so the derivation happens in your head. The goal is a learner who can work out the next one alone, not a faster lookup.
Is it free?
Free to use when you add your own free Google AI Studio key — practice then runs on Google’s free tier. The only fixed cost is a nominal ₹150 a year platform fee. No key, and don’t want one? There’s a ₹1-a-day plan. See Pricing.
Do I need a Google API key, and how do I get one?
A free Google AI Studio key is the recommended way to use the tutor at no cost. In short: open aistudio.google.com/apikey, click Create API key, pick or create a project, copy the key, and paste it into your profile in the app. Full walkthrough with screenshots: Get an API key.
How is it different from ChatGPT or Gemini for Sanskrit?
A general chat model answers instantly and is sometimes wrong in ways that are hard to spot. AI शिक्षकः refuses to answer directly, and the grammar in its hints is decided by a deterministic implementation of Pāṇini’s Aṣṭādhyāyī — not by the model, which only does the phrasing.
How does it know its hints are correct?
A neuro-symbolic design. A Pāṇinian engine (vidyut-prakriya) runs the actual derivation and returns the correct form and the operative sūtra. The language model only rephrases that verified hint.
What can I practise with it?
Sandhi and pada-ccheda, vibhakti and vachana, śabda-rūpa, dhātu-rūpa, kṛdanta, taddhitānta, sanādyanta, and kośa lookup. Samāsa and ekaśeṣa are coming next.
Which languages does it explain in?
English by default. Tell it the other languages you read and it will add a short gloss in one of them when a term needs it.
Do I need an account?
Yes — a Geervanee ID: sign in with Google or Apple, then a one-time phone verification. It is the same login used across Geervanee’s services.
Is my API key safe?
It is encrypted at rest, used only to run your own practice, and you can remove it in one click at any time. It is never shown back to you or shared.
Where can I use AI शिक्षकः?
It is the tutor across every Geervanee platform — geervanee.in, geervanee.com, the Samsad app, the Geervanee mobile app, and Kshanasah — with one Geervanee ID for all of them. Schools and teachers who want it for a class can write to [email protected].
